A blues song about a street racer who has a badass GTO Judge who accepts a challenge to race the Devil and loses. Imagine "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," except about street racing instead of fiddle playing, and also Johnny loses, crashes his car, dies in the burning wreckage, and goes to hell for an eternity of torture and punishment because Street Racing is illegal and so is making deals with the Devil.
lyrics
My sixty-nine, she owns the road.
Leave them Mustangs chewed up in smoke.
Fastback Chevelle, four-fifty-fours.
440 Magnums, slammed to the floor.
Those Hemi-cudas, they all too slow.
When I drop that hammer, watch her go.
Out on the blacktop she can unload.
Don’t stand a chance against my GTO.
If you want to race then, I’m the one you’re looking for now.
I say, “what you scared of? Come on lay your pink slip down.”
That’s the Speedway Blues
Out on highway, two-eighty-one.
I met a man with eyes like machine guns
“Nice ride you got, boy, let’s have some fun.”
I said, “You got the money? Then get up and run.”
He just laughed, “you don’t know me, son?
My name’s Perdition, Beelzebub.
I don’t want your money, and I don’t want your blood.
I want your soul, and I want that judge.”
"If you want to race then, this time the winner takes all."
He said, “Don’t be scared it’s just your eternal soul.”
"That’s the Speedway Blues"
That Boss 420 growled like a dog.
Came off the line with a gunshot.
I jumped out ahead, screaming like a saw.
That hell-hound on my trail couldn’t shake him off.
My engine’s in the red, she’s running hot.
White lines were blurring like the word of God.
Took the corner and my wheels went soft.
Ended up in flames and my race was lost.
You had your race, and now the deal is done.
He said, “I got your soul, and now you lost your judge."
That’s the Speedway Blues
